Jodi's Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

Cookies

1 cup butter softened

1 cup sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

Frosting

3/4 cup butter softened

2 1/2 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp heavy cream

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 pinch of salt

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. For cookies, whip up eggs and add butter, salt, sugar, and vanilla extract

3. Add in flour and baking powder and mix well

4. Place dough in a bowl and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes

5. Scoop out dough into 1.5" balls and place on cookie sheet with parchment paper about 2" apart. Slightly flatten dough balls so they spread out better

6. Bake for about 10-12 minutes. Then set aside on a wired rack to cool

7. For frosting, combine all ingredients and turn mixer on high to thicken it up for a better consitency 

8. Spread frosting onto cooled cookies
